Outside the US, your country decides more than anything else. Polymarket.com works in countries that are not on its blocked list, which names 39, including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Australia and Japan, plus four Canadian provinces; it is funded with crypto.[1][2] Kalshi, a CFTC-regulated US exchange, accepts sign-ups from many countries but bars event-contract trading from 55 listed jurisdictions, among them the UK, Canada, Australia, France, Italy and India.[3][4][5] Interactive Brokers offers ForecastEx and Kalshi contracts to clients aged 21+ of its US, Canadian, Hong Kong, Irish and Singapore firms, and Betfair Exchange serves the UK, Ireland and other licensed markets as a betting exchange.[6][7][8][9] Manifold's play-money markets are open to anyone 13 or older.[10] These lists change, and none of them tells you what your local law allows.

We compared the platforms on four criteria for readers outside the US, using each platform's own country lists, terms, deposit guides and fee schedules, all dated in the source list. Prediction-market platforms come first, in order of how many countries their own lists leave open; Betfair Exchange, a betting exchange whose political markets sit beside its sports, and Manifold, which is play money only, follow.
Also considered: the crypto markets Limitless and Myriad, run from Panama and Grand Cayman. They bar US users and some other places, such as Ontario and Alberta for Limitless and France, Singapore and Switzerland for Myriad.[29][30][31]

Where you can sign up depends on where you live and where you are when you trade, and it changes as regulators, courts and the platforms themselves change their rules. Check each platform's own eligibility pages before you open an account.
This page has no affiliate or referral links, and the order above follows the criteria, not payments. Fees and rules are quoted as each platform documented them on the dates in the source list. Educational information, not financial or legal advice.
Polymarket.com lists the UK as blocked and Kalshi lists it as a restricted jurisdiction. Betfair Exchange holds a UK Gambling Commission license, and Manifold's play money is open to UK users. Interactive Brokers does not list its UK firm among those offering event contracts.[1][5][8][10][6]
Polymarket.com blocks Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec; Kalshi lists Canada as restricted; and betfair.com lists Canada as a prohibited territory. Clients of Interactive Brokers Canada aged 21 or older can trade event contracts.[1][5][9][6]
Both list Australia among the places they restrict. Betfair serves Australian residents through Betfair Pty Limited, licensed by the Northern Territory Racing and Wagering Commission.[1][5][9]
Polymarket, Betfair and Myriad all forbid using a VPN to get around their location rules. Betfair's terms say it can void bets, withhold winnings and close accounts when that happens.[1][9][31]
